www.Dragon-Antiques.com presents; Stunning Cartel Wall Clock ~ Dolphin bySamuel Marti. ~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, movement fully working ~~ A large and very finely detailed antique French, brass cased, cartel wall clock. It is modelled in the Rococo style with sweeping asymmetric acanthus leaves, floral swags and crowned by a mythical dolphin sitting in a 'C' scroll. It is of lovely quality with a clean and bright finish ready to grace any room. A rare feature is the original oak back board, finished with red velvet, which beautifully frames the clock. The dial is enamel on copper with a cast brass centre and is complete with original blued steel hands and convex, bevelled glass. The mark of the Paris retailer Maison Henri Riondet, Comptoir General, Boulevard Poissonnière is on the movement backplate, together with the clockmakers mark of Samuel Marti The Samuel Marti movement is of this makers usual high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. On one wind, the clock runs for 8 days and strikes every hour and half-hour on a bell. The video clip below shows the clock running and striking the bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some minor wear on the high spots. The dial is also excellent with no chips or scratches.
