It is classical, Louis XVI in style, restrained symmetrical shape with scroll shoulders, an urn to the top and acanthus swags. A fretted panel below the dial allows the pendulum to be seen swinging within the case. The large dial is also gilt brass with an elaborately decorated centre, and is mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouche letters. It is complete with original blued steel hands.
